Donna Hewitt’s performances, spanning various international events, explore themes of sound, gender, and activism through technological innovation. 2010-2014
Donna Hewitt’s main performance activities between 2010 and 2014 feature experimental music and sound art projects involving new technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration. Highlights include the Ghost Ships premiere at the Underbelly Arts Festival on Cockatoo Island (2013), an ambient audio-visual performance exploring the island’s historical layers through spatial and environmental sensing. She also performed in Macrophonics II at ISEA 2013, showcasing her interactive microphone interface (eMic) and wearable technology in a fusion of pop aesthetics and cutting-edge sound design. Other notable performances include her Datascape exhibition show at QUT with dancers and her ongoing collaboration with Carly Dickenson in various venues. Additionally, her work with the eMic was featured at several international events, including NIME 2010 in Sydney and festivals in Montreal, Singapore, and Brisbane.

2005-2009
Between 2005 and 2009, Donna Hewitt’s creative activities primarily focused on electro-acoustic and experimental music performances. In 2008, she performed Amphibian at the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) in Belfast and Macrophony at the Australasian Computer Music Conference (ACMC) in Sydney. She also participated in the UTS Music.Sound.Design Symposium and contributed as a vocalist in Andrée Greenwell’s Villainelles performances in Sydney and Melbourne. In 2007, Hewitt performed a live set with Julian Knowles at The Great Escape Festival in Sydney. In 2005, she presented her work Nodule for laptop and eMic at several events, including the Disorientation experimental music series in Sydney and the ACMC conference in Brisbane.

2000-2004
Between 2000 and 2004, Donna Hewitt engaged in various experimental and electro-acoustic performances. In 2004, she performed Nodule, a collaboration with Julian Knowles, at multiple venues, including the Intercultural Creativity Conference, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and other Sydney-based experimental music series. She also performed Dystonia, a live work for voice and electronics, at the We Like You concert series in Sydney. In 2003, she presented Dysphonia at the Electrofringe Festival and premiered her composition for voice and eMic at the 1/4 Inch experimental music series. Earlier activities include performances at the Australasian Computer Music Conferences in 2001 and 2003, live electro-acoustic performances at Impermanent Audio (2002), and her multi-channel work Drowning at Sonic Residues in 2000. She also performed works combining marine mammal field recordings with live electronics at the Southern Hemisphere Marine Mammal Conference in 2001.

PRE 1999
Prior to 2000, Donna engaged in a variety of artistic and performance activities. She performed Celtic folk songs with Julian Knowles at the Thanatagraphia Conference in October 1999 and delivered a live a cappella vocal performance with Cairdean at the opening of the Fuse Exhibition at the Llewers Gallery in June. Her installation Peep Show was featured in the same exhibition from June to July and was a finalist in the National Student Video Competition, where it was screened at the Chauvel Cinema in October. Peep Show was also showcased at UWS Nepean’s annual concert Sonic Circus in September. In 1998, she performed her multi-channel sound work Drowning at the Watt Concert, an event dedicated to experimental and electro-acoustic sound.
